Comic Creation Workshop Taster (180mins) - $10* (U.P. $90)
This highly affordable* online course is organised in partnership with COMIX.SG and JSIM Education.
Students aged 8 to 12 will be introduced to some fundamentals of comic creation—namely facial sketching, scripting, and thumbnailing—by local artist Nadrah Insyirah (@raineyellow). Delivering insight into the intricacies of visual storytelling, the course will benefit not only aspiring comic creators, but also future filmmakers, animators, graphic designers, and more!
It further serves as a taster for our comprehensive comic creation workshop, slated to be launched in September 2023. Students participating in this intensive workshop will delve deeper into the technicalities of comic creation under the guidance of Zaki Ragman (@xarquee), an illustrious local artist and arts educator. They will get to craft their own comics based on important figures in Singaporean history and legend, thus engaging in meaningful research while having all the fun that comes with flexing their creative muscles!

Taster Objectives:
- develop an understanding of comic creation and its basic elements
- acquire and hone skills in facial sketching, scripting, and thumbnailing
- gain insight into the intricacies of visual storytelling
- complete a 4-panel comic strip based on a genre or theme of choice
- build the necessary foundation for thriving in our comprehensive workshop to come

Do Option 1 and Option 2 cover the same material?
Yes.
Where will this taster take place?
Via Zoom session (online). The instructor will email registered participants the link prior to the course!
May I register if I do not reside in Singapore?
Yes, but please note that the time slots are indicated according to SGT (UTC +8)!
May I register for more than one participant?
Yes. Simply set the ‘Quantity’ above accordingly. Apply the 100%-off discount code (sent to those on our mailing list) when checking out and the course will be FREE regardless of the number of participants you are registering for. If not, you will be charged $10 per participant.
What if I am interested but can only make it for one session of my preferred Option?
You may still register, but please note that you will be missing out on half the content and no refund will be issued despite this.
What if I have already registered but cannot make it for a session, or both?
We apologise that no refund will be made. If you have registered for Option 1, we might be able to slot you in for Option 2. Please contact our partner JSIM Education at enquiry@jsimeducation.com.sg or 62802713 to request for this adjustment.
