Asiapac Archives

The Asiapac Archives are a dedicated portal of documents related to Asiapac Books from our founding days til now. We invite our readers to browse through these documents, to learn more about our company's history and identity.

We are also currently seeking collaborators and archivists to help us organize our extensive collection of comics artwork. Interested parties may contact ying (at) asiapacbooks.com for more information.

 

Our History

1982 - Asiapac Books & Educational Aids Pte. Ltd. was established in an office at Bukit Merah Town Central. Our first publication was an illustrated/comic book on the topic of women's rights, titled Labour Pains.

1983 - The company is renamed to Asiapac Books Pte Ltd.

1984 - Participating for the first time in the Frankfurt Book Fair, we purchased international copyrights for literary classics and wellness titles. Our publications grew and we built a niche in comics about Asian culture and translated foreign classics.

1988 - We started our long-standing collaboration with Taiwanese illustrator Tsai Chih Chung. His illustrated titles include the famous Journey to the West , Romance of the Three Kingdoms , and The Water Margin.

1996 - We launched the breakthrough success Return of the Condor Heroes - the first comic version and English translation of the famous wuxia story by Jin Yong.

1997 - Our top-selling series, the Origins series - featuring illustrated stories about Chinese culture was published with its first title, Origins of Chinese Festivals. We also launched The Price of Peace (和平的代价), which was later adapted into a TV series.

2003 - The Gateway series, a series of introductory books about the different Asian cultures in Singapore, was launched.

2009 - We published our first e-book app in collaboration with Potato Productions.

2012 - We released the Celebrate Chinese Culture series in collaboration with Foreign Language Press.

2014 - Our first eCommerce website is created at www.asiapacbooks.com.
